Is what they’ll say about YOU when you hire me

Hey, I’m Erin, a copywriter with 18 years of experience supporting companies like Microsoft, Ogilvy, GE, L.O.L. Surprise!, and Yohana.

Over the course of my career, I’ve written a truly dizzying variety of short- and long-form content, including website copy, sales pages, ad copy, product descriptions and packaging, triggered and segmented email campaigns, brand voice guides, messaging frameworks, op-eds and feature articles, social media copy, white papers and thought leadership pieces, blog posts, annual reports, and some very inspired bathroom graffiti.

If there’s one thing I could say to sum up my experience, it’s this:

No matter what you’re writing about—whether it’s skincare or SaaS, haute couture or high-yield bank accounts, wifi or women’s rights— it can and should be infused with warmth and personality.

Your audience is made up of humans—your brand should read like one, too. Because nobody wants copy that sounds like it was written by a roomful of suits futzing with Auto-Tune.

And if I can breathe life into topics like machine learning and parental burnout, you can trust me to make your customers fall madly in love with your brand, too.

I like to get to know the people I hire.

Tell me more about yourself.

Sure! Here goes:

Proudest accomplishment: running the Vancouver Marathon, twice—despite the fact that I was thoroughly un-sporty as a teen.

Best part about living in the Pacific Northwest: How lush and beautiful it is—we’ve got mountains, beaches, wooded trails, waterfalls, turquoise lakes, and an honest to goodness rainforest. After three years of living in one of the flattest, most arid nations on earth, this feels like paradise.

On Saturday mornings, you can find me: Up bright and early for a run with my training partner, Bing.

Things I adore about my neighborhood in Seattle: My kids’ school, how walkable it is, all the old-growth fruit trees, and the fact that we live within two miles of more than a dozen different breweries—it’s heaven for beer lovers.

Most epic family vacation: Costa Rica. We went white water rafting, zip lined through the rainforest, soaked in volcanic hot springs, hiked through the cloud forest, saw so many amazing animals and plants, and visited a cacao farm (they don’t call it “drink of the gods” for nothing).

Second most epic family vacation: Sri Lanka. We swam in the Indian Ocean, visited a sea turtle hatchery and a tea plantation, and toured Colombo by tuk-tuk.

One thing I miss about Brussels: Getting a fresh Liège waffle at the outdoor market at Place Flagey on weekend mornings.

Favorite memory from Qatar: Going dune bashing with my then-five-year-old and seeing the Inland Sea.

If I’m not writing or running, I’m probably busy: curled up with a novel or cooking something elaborate.

You’ve moved around a lot. What gives? My husband’s job took us from DC to Brussels to Doha and then to Seattle (and thankfully, my work is portable). We like to go where adventure leads us.

Weirdest thing I’ve been paid to write: A month’s worth of Instagram posts in the voice of a totally outrageous tween fashion doll.

How about the shortest? Teeny tiny display ads. Just 32 characters!

And the longest? A series of 80-page trend reports for Microsoft.

Project I’m most proud of: Writing the website for the Noor Center, an NGO that serves refugees in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Favorite beer: It depends on my mood, what I’m eating, and where I am in the world. #drinklocal When I’m in my own neighborhood, I’m partial to juicy IPAs, like the ones from Stoup
