Hey, I’m Erin Lancione!
I'm a seasoned and versatile copywriter with sixteen years of experience supporting agency and corporate clients, including Microsoft, Ogilvy, and Starbucks. I’ve developed content for (takes deep breath) photographers, authors, jewelry brands, NGOs and nonprofits, five-star hotels, premium food brands, airlines, banks, petrochemical firms, and luxury retail developments, as well as for clients in technology, tourism, architecture, interior design, and law.
What do all these clients have in common?
They’re all brands that give a damn. They don’t just make widgets, they make a positive difference in the world. If that’s what you’re here to do, I can help you whip your copy into shape. Are you ready?
Why Rising Tide?
It’s a nod to the saying “a rising tide lifts all boats.” The clients I work with don’t keep their success to themselves — they use their work and their resources to lift up those around them.
I like to get to know the people I hire. Tell me more about yourself.
Sure! Here goes:
Proudest accomplishment: running my first-ever marathon (two months late, in the wrong country) during a pandemic.
Best part about living in the Pacific Northwest: How lush and beautiful it is—we’ve got mountains, beaches, wooded trails, waterfalls, turquoise lakes, and an honest to goodness rainforest. After three years of living in one of the flattest, most arid nations on earth, this feels like paradise.
On Saturday mornings, you can find me: up bright and early for a run with my training partner!
Things I adore about my neighborhood in Seattle: My kids’ school, how walkable it is, all the old-growth fruit trees, and the fact that we live within two miles of a dozen different breweries (it’s heaven for beer lovers).
Most epic family vacation: Sri Lanka! We swam in the Indian Ocean, visited a sea turtle hatchery and a tea plantation, and toured Colombo by tuk-tuk.
One thing I miss about Brussels: Getting a fresh Liège waffle at the outdoor market at Place Flagey on weekend mornings.
Favorite memory from Qatar: Going dune bashing with my then-five-year-old and seeing the Inland Sea.
If I’m not writing or running, I’m probably busy: reading a book or cooking something elaborate (and probably impractical).
You’ve moved around a lot. What gives? My husband’s job took us from DC to Brussels to Doha and then to Seattle (and thankfully, my work is portable). We like to go where adventure leads us.
Weirdest thing I’ve been paid to write: The backstory for a brand of premium basmati rice.
How about the shortest? A bit of microcopy for the back of a donation envelope.
And the longest? A series of 80-page trend reports for Microsoft.
Project I’m most proud of: writing the website copy for the Noor Center, an NGO that serves refugees in Iraqi Kurdistan.

What types of things do you write?
I’ve written and edited a wide variety of short- and long-form content, including website copy, segmented email campaigns, sales pages, ad copy, blog posts, product stories and packaging, video scripts, social media content, op-eds and feature articles, thought leadership pieces, white papers, annual reports, speeches and emcee scripts, awards submissions, marketing collateral, event materials… and some pretty inspired bathroom graffiti.
But do you do short-form work?
Many of my clients hire me specifically for long form writing, but I can tell a compelling story no matter how tight the character count. (I write some pretty sweet tag lines, headlines, and email subject lines.) Though I might shed a tear if I have to cut a stellar pun to make a headline pop on mobile. Check out my graveyard of good ideas.
